Check Out This New Tile System That Gets Installed With Glue

I have done so many projects in this house, but I’m so excited to finally be renovating my primary bathroom. Other projects have taken priority because this bathroom was a full gut job. I needed to make sure I was ready to be without my bathroom for weeks. When I planned out the shower, I discovered a new tile system. These tiles are so cool and so easy to install.

Cool New Tile System That Installs with Glue

I started the bathroom renovation with demo. The whole bathroom was taken down to the studs and good riddance to the outdated tile in the shower. Once the shower was taken down to the studs I finished the walls in the shower with cement board. The cement board gets taped and mudded just like drywall and then painted with Red Guard to keep the walls waterproof. After the Red Guard was dry I could start tiling. Usually tile needs mortar to adhere to the wall and grout to fill the gaps. This new tile by Palisade is so cool. It’s made of PVC and is installed using glue! The Palisade tile is waterproof and mold and mildew resistant.

It is super easy to install. Just put glue on the back and a bead of silicone along the edges. Then fit it into the tongue and groove of the surrounding tiles. Rinse and repeat. The silicone bead along the edges seals the seams and keeps them waterproof. You can even score and snap the tiles to size, but I preferred to use my jigsaw. The tile goes up so quickly and so easily. They even make inserts for niches in the walls. Those install the same way, glue and silicone.

This Tile is Amazing

I am so in love with this tile. It went up so easily and so quickly. The look is so timeless and classic. I’m excited to update this bathroom and Palisade made tiling the shower super easy and fast. In addition to going up easily there was no waiting for mortar to dry before being able to finish the shower. I love the way it looks, it is so fresh and clean. Conquer Tiling With Easy to Use Peel and Stick Tiles!

Sometimes, a wall just needs a little something. I recently updated a half bathroom, and I created a butler pantry/wine bar area in my house. There were so many new design elements that I used in them. I added a slat wall and an asymmetrical mirror in the bathroom. The unused wet bar in my house was demolished to create a wide hall with arches, cabinets, and a wine rack. I loved adding fun elements to these spaces, but there was a wall in each space that was just a little boring.

Peel and Stick Tiles Are a Simple Solution

Paint is always an option for a fun accent wall, but I really wanted something different. I wanted these walls to stand out and have some texture. Enter: peel and stick tile. Amazon has a lot of options for these peel and stick tiles from Smart Tile. These tiles have real 3d texture and they even feel like real tile. I started in the bathroom with the wall behind the asymmetrical mirror. The bathroom was painted white and really needed some color. I chose gorgeous Moroccan style tiles in dark green.

It is so easy to install these tiles! I made sure to clean the wall so they would adhere well and then I just peeled the backing off and stuck the tiles to the wall. Taking care to be sure that they were level I continued on. When I got to a point where a full sheet of tile wasn’t necessary I used a box cutter and a straight edged paper cutter to cut them to the right size. Once the wall was tiled I caulked around the edges to give it a more finished look.

So Easy, I Did it Twice!

I repeated the same process on the wall in my wine bar area. For that wall I chose some contemporary Zellige tiles in an ivory color. I repeated the process with the peel and stick tiles. I was able to tile that wall in just a few hours! Less time and less mess makes for a super easy DIY project that honestly, anyone can do.

The results are beautiful and I’m really happy with them. Both walls have the texture I was looking for and the tiles made them amazing accent walls. There are so many options for these smart tiles and they are so affordable and easy to use. I love that this project is simple and has great results.

Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge REVEAL

Its freaking reveal day!!! We made it! Can you even believe it? This might have been the longest, most exciting and exhausting 6 weeks of my life. Renovations are hard enough but add in 3 kids, one being an infant and another in the middle of her competitive gymnastics meet season… phew! Just imagine the disaster that is my house right now haha. With the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge REVEAL its almost officially over but voting continues for the next few days and the winner will be announced November 17th.

We wrapped up the final week with all the finishing details. Painting the walls and ceiling, baseboards, caulking, staining the beams, installing fixtures, and decorating. I cried over a shower head curtain falling on me and laughed at the fact that I was making a light fixture out of plastic sheets and fish hook earrings with just 2 days until deadline. The last 6 weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions.

Some of the stuff I ordered didn’t make it in time but I managed to come up with some temporary solutions and steal decor from other areas of my home. While this isn’t the first time I’ve renovated, I’ve always done a room in smaller stages. 1 project at a time… I’ve never done a space it all at once from gut to finish. So it has been really cool to see what I’m capable of. HUGE shout out to my husband who has been my back bone, right hand man and biggest supporter. He saved my butt multiple times. I honestly don’t know if I could have done it all without him.

Now the reason you are all here… THE REVEAL.

You might see tile and decor and paint… but I see blood, sweat, tears, heart, and soul in this space. Win or lose I’m so dang proud.
